Das Dorf Bocca di Valle, mit Sitz der Maiella Nationalparkbehörde, ist ein Ausgangspunkt für viele Ausflüge durch eine wunderbare Bergwelt.
Den malerischen Wasserfall, die "Cascata S. Giovanni" sollte man auf keinen Fall versäumen zu besuchen.
Im Ort stößt man unweigerlich auf eine im Jahr 1920 gebaute Höhle. Sie wurde zum Gedenken an die gefallenen des 1. Weltkrieges errichtet. Über dem Eingang erinnert eine Inschrift an die „Söhne der Abruzzen, die für Italien zu Land und Wasser kämpften und starben und die Mutter Maiella sie für immer segnet."
Die Grotte ist über eine Treppe zu erreichen, die zum Grab von Andrea Bafile führt, ein gefallener Leutnant im Ersten Weltkrieg.
